Crystal Growth Contest
Every year, we organize a crystallization contest in the Nancy-Metz region.
The principle is simple: grow the largest and most perfect single crystal from a saturated solution of a salt chosen and provided by the competition organizers. The contest, intended for students of the Nancy-Metz academy, is open to students of primary, junior and senior high schools, in the three corresponding categories.
The most beautiful crystals of each establishment are sent to the laboratory of Cristallography of the University of Lorraine (CRM2, Vandoeuvre-les-Nancy) which gathers a jury of experts to evaluate and classify the sent crystals.
The awards ceremony takes place in May-June around an event or a scientific visit and ends with a snack offered by the organizers.
